I have received a response [click] from King George Hospital that is a little disappointing and so believe we need to organise another protest - considering the success of the last one.
The BHR Acute Trust has blamed the planning regulations from 15 years ago and the increased local population for the removal of the staff parking.
I have copied their letter to the planning department and have asked the hospital if they would be willing to increase parking facility if planning was agreed. I have also again asked for a waiver of parking charges to the friends and family of chronically/terminally ill patients.
Finally, I have also asked for clarification of whom the parking permit scheme will be targeting - most likely the hard working poorer paid staff.
The minuscule silver lining from the recent letter from the hospital is that they allude to a reduction in local parking burden once the new parking permit scheme is fully operational.
I will post further updates including potential new protests.
