2004 Result in brackets (including those below):

The People's Party for Better Government 156

As you can see the Lib Dems, Conservatives and the Labour Party have lost more than 2000 votes each and The Greens are the only party above 4000 votes to have made any gains - when compared with 2004. I will assume much of this is due to a strong Green vote in Chadwell!

  1. What are these numbers ?
Hardly the total number of votes nation-wide, surely.
Also where are the Conservatives ?

  2. these clearly aren't the UK-wide results - maybe the borough ones?

  3. The Conservatives are referred to as Tory in my list. I am very sorry about the quick posting on my site withoit checking stats. I hope the revised piece is to your liking. It is good to know people are reading my blog and refreshing to receive your comments. Thank you.

  4. You've missed UKIP from this year's result. They got around 7,000 votes this time.

Even if every single one of the extra votes were in Chadwell ward (which is unlikely) you need much more than 900 votes to win it. Though if accurate the fall in the LibDem borough-wide vote is pretty startling.

  5. Thanks Dingaling I have rectified the UKIP Result. I would add, however, with 2000 votes being lost by all other parties with in excess of 4000 votes and an upsurge of close to 864 votes in the Green vote - could it be surmised that the overall Green vote in Chadwell is up by 2864? Hmmmm......I wonder?! If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?!

  6. Tech support has amended your list so that it is indeed in descending numerical order.

It is not surprising that the 3 Grey parties took a hit, but given UKIPs overall result, their showing here in Redbridge must be disappointing for them.

The increase in the Green vote reflects the National Trend but the long term work of activists in the west of the borough should not be discounted against a relatively new kid on the block.

What is though astonishing is the vote for Independent Jan Jananayagam who came close to beating the Greens!

  7. Weggis is it possible to get a breakdown of the Ilford South results compared to those of Ilford North?

  8. Not to my knowledge.
I have seen such figures elsewhere but it depends on the way the count is conducted.
