Unemployed people in Redbridge are being given the chance to be their own boss with a Prince’s Trust backed business Course. The free four-week get in to business course is open to 18 to 30 year olds who have lost their jobs in the recession or are looking to make their first step on to the job ladder. With funding from Redbridge Council and support from The Prince’s Trust, budding entrepreneurs will learn a host of business skills including product design and development, market research, budgeting and finances, branding, marketing and business planning.
The aim is to give out-of-work budding entrepreneurs the chance to make the first step towards running their own money-making venture.
Once the course is finished, graduates will be able to apply to the Prince’s Trust business programme and even get a business loan together with mentor support to help realise their dream of being their own boss.
A trust spokesman said:
“The course offers practical support and personal development to help build confidence and a workable business plan, in addition to key employability skills. Young people will also get the chance to talk to Prince’s Trust supported businesses about the realities of being your own boss. This comes at a time when the number of 18-24 year olds claiming jobseekers’ allowance in Redbridge has increased 62 per cent in the past year.”
A level two national award in business skills will be given to everyone who finishes the course.
All travel Costs will be reimbursed and childcare support is available for the three day-a-week course being held at The Teachers’ Centre, Melbourne Road, Ilford, from August 4-27.
