Chadwell allotments update

From the picture it can be seen that I visited the residents of the property adjacent to Chadwell allotments form which proven unauthorised access to the enclosed are has been facilitated. The council have already repaired the damaged fencing but are refusing to add the additional secure metal fencing to remove the existing vulnerability. In the Ilford Recorder this week there was mention of the elderly age of the residents and it is for this reason I have asked the MET Police Crime Prevention Officer Mick Perring next to me in the picture to apply to area 5 funding for more secure fencing and gating of the allotments. I will keep you informed.

Mick Perring, Nova Flintham PCSO for Chadwell Ward and I went to the allotments to undertake a risk assessment. This will shortly be uploaded to my blog and will form part of the Application to area 5 for funding towards the fencing and gates. I am also arranging a public meeting on the 23rd July 2009 at Somerville Hall, Somerville Road from 19:00 at which the Police form Chadwell Heath SNT (Barking) and the Barking ASBO Team will be joined by the corresponding teams form Redbridge to discuss crime in the allotments and the alleyway by the side of St Chads Park in which alcohol and drug abuse paraphernalia have been found. Arson attacks have occurred on the section of the Highroad at the top of the alleyway as well as the allotments. Other crime issues can be brought to the meeting.
