Societal degeneration!

It was with regret that we informed local residents of the brutalised tree in Crucible Park. Ilsa Martin (our new activist) and I discovered the freshly broken tree at our audit session of the park, prior to the recent community meeting we arranged at Chadwell Heath Foundation School. It seems highly likely that a School Child destroyed the tree as we found the broken tree around 14;30 and it had clearly been broken only a few hours before as the snapped section was rather fresh.

Today I received a response from a senior Arboriculturalist within the Borough Tree Section indicating that the tree has been irreparably damaged and will be removed form the park:

"Unfortunately, the tree in Crucible Park has sustained too much damage and has been removed from the site, the remaining stump will be removed shortly".

It is a shame this action has had to be taken, as three trees have been planted at that same location and suffered the same vandalism. It looks likely that no new tree will planted in the park - yet we all know the environmental and aesthetic benefits trees provide to our parks. Why do the youths involved with this attack feel thay have benefitted - its a mystery to me?

We would ask that if anyone has any information on the culprits of this devastation - that they forward it to us, so that we can inform the appropriate bodies. We have raised the issue at our Community meeting held last Thursday at which the Headmaster of Chadwell Heath Foundation School.
