Fresh lick of paint!

Here is a response from Olivia Williams - to my persistent drive for the renovation for communal areas within the London and Quadrant properties in the Wimpey 1 estate (including Sherman Gardens and Bengeo Gardens):

"Dear Wilson

I can advise following the board meeting held by Winchesters yesterday and them feeding back to me today that the legal matters in regards to the works have been addressed and the appropriate notices can be served. In saying this, I have been told that Winchesters are awaiting the official go ahead from the board, however this appears to be a rubber stamping exercise.

Winchesters prepared the first draft of the specification for the works in August and this will be finalised with the boards go ahead.

Following the notices being served and the notice period expirying, tenders will go out and stakeholders asked for their financial contributions. As soon as we receive our bill, we will forward the amounts due for our areas to enable the works to be carried out as soon as possible.

I have now been advised that the works are likely to commence the end of February/the beginning of March 2010.

I have asked for confirmation in writing from either the Directors or their consultant solicitor to confirm the timescales.

We will be writing shortly to all of our residents to provide an update in regards to this matter.

I am sorry that this matter has been delayed, however any information that was conveyed was based on what I had been advised of by Winchesters.

Your email also refers to the cleaning in the communal areas, the Neighbourhood Services Officer, Daphne Barzey visits at least once every month to carry out an estate inspection. The dates of her estate inspections are on the noticeboards in the communal area, we invite residents to meet with the Neighbourhood Services Officer to discuss any concerns that they may have, no residents have contacted us.

The Neighbourhood Services Officer visited on 22 October 2009 and reported to our maintenance department that the communal door lock to one of the blocks was faulty. An order has been raised for repair. The NSO is due to visit again on 17 Nov 2009 and would welcome residents to meet with her. I will also visit the scheme myself.

As requested please find below details of the Housing Ombudsman Service:

I hope this brings some solace to all the long term sufferers within these properties!
