No joy - literally stitched up.

I was not allowed to speak against the Planning Application for No.74 Sommerville Road, at the Planning Regulatory Committee Meeting last night. A limp presentation was given by Cllr Tyne against the development. However, the application met with a resounding Yes from the seated Liberal democrat, Labour and Conservative decision makers.
I am wondering why Cllr Tyne bothered, when it was evident, his cohorts were in favour of the proposal. All the councillor's did not accept previous bad tenant history, as a reason for terminating the application to the same terrible property owners. There was also much debate, about whether, the fact that the property was way in excess of the usual size for a 1 bedroom flat, was a reason to reject the application.

The incumbent Cllr's in their usual long winded manner decided to approve the application. The only solace that they gave to local residents, was that if the internal building is later altered, to increase the number of dwellings - taking into account the full bathroom and separate shower room (unusual for a 1 bed flat), that residents could appeal to the council.

Such an appeal could then result in a supplementary, retrospective planning application, which I suspect the existing Councillors would probably just permit anyway! To be honest it seemed like a done deal form the outset.....? Hey it's all a conspiracy!

I waited till after 22:30 to get this decision - sometimes, I just wish we had more sensible leaders.......
