Prevention is better than cure!

We all know that Prevention is better than cure - however our Conservative Cabinet continue to ignore calls to increase our planned road maintenance budget and have in fact proposed a £500,000 reduction from this years budget. Our vehicles are subjected to increased wear and tear from potholes which also reduces fuel efficiency resulting in a significant environmental and economic concerns. To ensure Chadwell residents get the best level of service with respect to potholes I have been reporting all defects I see. Many of you will have received local updates on this work - my most recent tranche of reports includes:

• On Stanley Road a pothole exists before nos; 46, 64, 74, 84, 90, 96 and more can be seen in this area


• There is a pothole to the entrance of Hevingham Road at the Junction with Grove Road, It is next to the drain there.


• The pavement on the Chadwell Heath Lane/Grove Road corner is crumbling and a bollard has been hit by a car the Kerbstones are also loose


• A pothole is present at the Millhaven Close/Grove Road Junction


• A pothole on Grove Road just before Westfield Gardens junction (opposite a garage).


• To the fore of 2 Glendale Avenue is a loose kerbstone and a pothole exists at the corner of Glendale Avenue/Grove Road.


• Millhaven Close I can confirm the pavements both sides from the entrance via Grove Road are patchy and dangerous. This poor surface continues until no. 37


• Fauna Close is patchy throughout its entirety.


• 30 and 34 Somerville Road have loose kerbstones from Vehicles hitting the high kerb whilst parking on the pavements


• to the fore of 14 Howell close is a pavement slab with a trip hazard of over an inch.

Chadwell Heath Lane/Grove Road:- 2 jobs issued, now completed.
Millhaven Close/Grove Road:- job issued, 28 day window for completion.
As above.
Glendale Avenue:- job issued, now completed.
Millhaven Close:- only one defect noted. Job issued, now completed.
Fauna Close:- no urgent defects noted.
Somerville Road:- 3 jobs issued, due for completion today.
Howell Close:- no urgent defects noted.
