Marriage bliss!

I received a disturbing comment on my blog from a resident concerned about untoward activity on Grove Road at 23:00 Friday 11th June 2010.  The comment was written as follows:

"There was also a mini " riot" on grove road last nite (11th june) where a group of young boys came bangin down a door causing the whole street to be up!!! Iron poles...... Exhaust pipes..... Garden equipment and eventually a knife came out with alot of verbal abuse goin back and forth @ 3am......... Police arrice and road was shut off- WHAT IS GOIN ON???? Any more info on ths would b apprieated?"

It transpires that the whole fracas was the result of a fight at a wedding (not sure of the Groom and Bride were involved -but the picture is a treat).  The Sgt Lowrie from our Chadwell Police said:

"....this was a wedding . There was an altercation and 4 males were arrested by police following a foot chase."

I hope this restores local confidence in the safety along Grove Road..... it would seem there is little to worry about.  Our Chadwell Police team are working very well in trying to address your local concerns.

  1. Yes , this was a awful experience for us who live on the street.............peoples property was also damaged and 6 cars were badly smashed with 4 of them being towed away that night by police!!!
In the morning we awoke 2 shattered glass and bricks covering the road.....
Good to know the police caught 4 of them even though there was 5 of them..........were they charged? especially the one who brought out the knife with the attempt of using it or actuallly used it??? The family involved on the street did have an ambulance called and seemed very distressed - oviously!

  2. I also saw this and can assure u It was all men/boys and was absolutely a awful thing to witness at the early hours (2.30am) of the morning and is totally unacceptable having no care for anyone around them, not only residents on the street but also others who were passing through in cars who also had to stop driving due to them becoming stuck amongst the crowd in the street then only having to reverse hoping to get to safety from the flying bricks that were being thrown from across the street!!!

After speaking to residents we feel far from having confidence in the safety along our road.....this is something that should not be played down!!

I hope to hear more on the charges and results that these people face please?
