Councillors last night prevented me from talking about a variety of issues during the public forum, they even tried to ignore me when I registered to speak about specific items from the action sheet. I made my voice heard however during the meeting and they were forced to drop the silent treatment. They eventually agreed to receive an application for the tree pollarding scheme for Sherman gardens because of the amount of work I have put into it and the fact that the trees section are in favour of a scheme. I will keep you updated after obtaining back the petitions that should have been cascaded to all local residents by now.
Faced with an increasing burden related to the high risks associated with the allotments in Chadwell, I have arranged a meeting with the local Sergeant Mark Lowrie from Chadwell Safer Neighbourhoods Team and with Phil Walby from the Redbridge Antisocial Behaviour Team, that will take place on site at 13:00 tomorrow. It is imperative that we collaboratively find a solution to this problem. I will keep you updated on any potential solutions.

A resident in the vicinity of the Sherman Garden 5oft+ trees for which I have proposed a pollarding scheme is concerned about the exercise. I do not want to unduly frighten local residents and confirm the exercise is one that will not terminate the lives of the trees, it is actually a density reduction practice that will see larger limbs cut of the trees and the height reduced significantly. 95% of poplar trees survive such an exercise and the trees in question were put through a similar scheme 7 years ago. If any residents has been unduly alarmed let me apologise for not indicating this information with the level of clarity that I perhaps should have. Problems associated with the existing trees includes, local subsidence that has damaged over 3 properties, stick secretions causing damage to vehicles and property and loss of sunlight, reducing quality of life for residents (who don't get enough on England as it is).
A resident from the flats located at 11- 21 Overton Drive has complained about antisocial behaviour, Criminal damage to vehicles (broken wing mirrors) and Drug Dealing occurring on the grassy verge/Car Park at this location. I have reported the problem to the Police who have confirmed that the area is included in their list of patrol areas, however, it has been relatively quiet of late. They will be in the area on Friday so do look out for them - our Chadwell Team have improved since the recent appointment of Mark Lowrie as Sergeant and I believe residents will benefit from a much improved service. We do need to work as a team together, however, and I would request that you continue to report incidents of crime through me or directly to your Safer Neighbourhood Team or Ilford Police Station:
I have informed residents of two previous arson attacks at the allotments and yet this weekend we have now had a third? It is imperative that residents remain alert and vigilant in this area as fire is spreading to residential properties and eventually we could have a really severe incident. I fail to understand how an angle grinder was used to cut through a padlock and no-one in the vicinity heard the noise or reported anything to the statutory authorities. I can only surmise that residents thought that the use of such equipment was warranted by a professional organisation. It was not and I am hoping that residents would be willing to contact me or the local police with any information that could lead to an arrest.
