Another one bites the dust!

I have campaigned religiously for the adoption of No Drinking Zones in areas such as Green Lane the High Road out side the center of Ilford all the way to Chadwell Ward and other antisocially (binge drinking) affected areas. To date after many reassurances this legislation has not been incorporated in these much needed areas. As Chairman of the RNWA I intend to push this agenda forward by working with our local police.

In the picture you can see an image of an Ambulance was called out after a man was seen unconscious on the floor in front of SS Peters and Paul's School, Gordon Road, Ilford. The occurence was captured at around 09:30 on Tuesday night a day after in excess of 20 homeless people were drinking in a rowdy fashion at the same location. I also reported a previous incident and took images of the perpetrators.

This incident transpired to be another incident when a drunken homeless man tried to drink himself to death. Fortunately, for residents in the area this activity will be curbed as I have asked our local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team to patrol the area. Ina addition, the Welcome centre have planning consent to create homeless dwellings to support their counselling and advice work with the homeless. My thanks to High Road Baptist Church for fulfilling this need!!!

Pakistani Christians united against Religious persecution.

Today at 14:00 in Knightsbridge, just opposite the Pakistani Embassy - over 300 Pakistani Christians from across the UK united to demonstrate against the recent atrocities in Gojra Pakistan (see video). A Christian village was pillaged and razed to the ground after an alleged blasphemy of the Quraan


On the 1st of August rampaging Muslims struck terror into the hearts of a small village community, purportedly led by a known local alqaeda militant. The police held back as 75 homes and 2 churches were burnt down. The rampant aggressors lay before emergency services such as the fire and ambulance teams preventing them from reaching the homes in which Christians
were being roasted alive.

Police authorities stood back while the carnage took place and no protection is being given to this beleaguered community that is still being threatened with potential violence. As the western world looks on these atrocities to religious minority groups, continues in countries that are purported to be British allies. The violence to Christians has increased during the recent British War on terror and thus I believe our government has a duty to stimulate a resolution to this matter.

I was invited to speak at the protest as a leading young Asian Christian and am proud of my religious and ethnic background. This demonstration was peaceful and we were joined by a few western churches. However, if we are to really make our voices heard it is imperative that more western churches join our clamour and support our cause. What is our cause you might ask....?

• We want to see the total abrogation of the unjust Blasphemy Law 295 Section B and C. This act does not even require evidence to be enacted almost encouraging people to use the act to settle personal differences.
• We want equal rights for people from Minority Religious groups so that they can vote in normal elections and stand for parliament and other government positions. Currently, Christians can only vote for Christians in provincial positions allocated to our faith.
• We want the Pakistani Government to apologise for years of discriminatory practice, supporting of intolerance and unjust prison sentences for people from religious minority groups.
• We want the Pakistani Government to allow more people from diverse faiths to seek employment within the Police, Army and other civil service posts.
• We want the Pakistani Government to address the imbalance of opportunity and unequal distribution of wealth for religious minorities.
• We want justice to be served on the intolerant people that have wrecked the lives and been involved in the discriminate killings of innocent masses.

Finally we want protection for the people in Gojra and for recompense to this community that will reinstate the lives of the shattered survivors.

We would like other faith organisations, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh or other diversities that are interested in supporting our efforts to make contact. Just email me your details as are going to arrange another event like this to continue our campaign. Please contact your Local MP's and MEP's for a resolution to this matter. The European Parliament adopted the Human Rights Act. Surely, now they should expect member states to adopt alliances with countries of a similar ilk...?

Kerbstone Cops!

Good news the damaged kerb I reported yesterday along Chadville Gardens will be fixed today within two hours. Someone has already replaced the stone, however the reactive maintenance team will ensure it has been secured and will not pop out again - for some time at least...!

A lead officer from Highways stated:

" Wilson, A call-out has been raised to re-set the dislodged kerb, this should be completed within the next two hours. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention."

Death in a Redbridge Lift

Today on the BBC London News programme I was disturbed by news that a women was crushed under a faulty lift, at a Redbridge Council Flat block. This news is evidence that the government needs to review its current practice, allowing management agents to practice a minimalistic response to concerns about the quality of life and safety of residents under their control - without policing.

The Orchard estate in Woodford is just one example of the atrocious response times and maintenance concerns in our borough of Redbridge. I have raised concerns about antisocial behaviour, faulty lamp posts, fytipping and the disrepair of subterranean car parking that not only provide safety concerns, but must also be in conflict with existing planning laws and submitted planning applications.

It is a shame that rogue companies have been able to reduce the quality of life of residents living on estates, as I believe this impact on drug use, confidence, morale and inadvertently suicides and antisocial behaviour at such locations. There is a definite correlation between quality of life and crime proclivity. Moreover, much of the shortcomings result in expense to the state....our local council is often removing bulky waste and fytipping from estates that is due to the poor design of estates and the negligence of Managing Agents and Housing agents.

Rogue management agents, often advise they will undertake repairs and months - even years later, we find ourselves in a position of status quo.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Christine Allen aged 5o who died as a consequence of this tragic event. Four of the witnesses to the vent were close to the victim and the incident will no doubt, live with them forever. I just hope Redbridge Council and our Government enact changes to the existing scheme of things, to finally curb this awful insouciant management of peoples domestic life.

Cannabis - the truth!

As evidence increases about the potential consequences of cannabis use and it pervading malaise within our young people. What is Redbridge Council doing to work towards a solution to resolve the issue...?

I include a link to a Daily mail story that talks how our governments prevarication has confused young people and authoratative bodies. Young people are now stating that they have noticed the negative effects of drugs on their peers and that many of them feel pressured to try the drug due its trendy status.

I hope eventually the council opts to follow my advice and empower the Parks Police with a temporary CCTV Camera, to tackle crime hotspots in our parks and that they might facilitate the signage I have been suggesting in my previous Cannabis Posts. This woudl be a great step on the way to a better quality of life for residents and a reclaiming of our parks.

Kerbstone crises

In the picture (taken at 21:40 Sunday 9th August) you will see a dislodged kerbstone at the Hathaway Gardens/Chadville Gardens Corner - it is causing a significant health and safety concern for local residents. I have informed the highways department and expect an expedient resolution from our prompt reactive maintenance team.

Revamped

I am pleased to see that the former Landowners of the Richmond Estate have stayed true to their word and that your green area now has new grass and a rather pleasant image. I have thanked Taylor Wimpey for their work on this project, however, I am aware that residents are still awaiting the full adoption of the road and I am chasing Taylor Wimpey for an early remedy.
